A lift emergency communication system lets a passenger trapped in a lift cabin press an alarm button and speak to someone who can help, whether that is building reception, a security control room or a lift company's call centre. It has three parts: an emergency communicator in the cabin, a connection to the operator, and software or a phone that receives the alarm call. Standards such as EN 81-28 set the requirements for these remote alarm systems.

2N Lift8 is a modular system for buildings with several lifts. One central unit serves up to eight shafts over a two-wire bus and reaches the operator through a PSTN, GSM, UMTS or VoIP module, so changing technology later means replacing one module.
Lift companies and facility managers can use 2N Call Centre for Lifts to receive alarm calls, see cabin images and lift locations on a map, archive calls and export reports. It works with any communicator that supports the CPC or P100 protocol.

Start with the connectivity in your building. If the lift cabin has an Ethernet connection, or you are modernising the lift, the 2N LiftIP 2.0 gives you a SIP communicator that can be monitored and configured remotely. If there is no UTP cable to the cabin, add 2N LiftGate to carry IP over two wires in the travelling cable, with 4G and backup power built in.
